Description: Statistical tools for scientific research, including parametric and non-parametric methods for ANOVA and group comparisons, simple linear and multiple linear regression and basic ideas of experimental design and analysis. Emphasis placed on the use of statistical packages such as Minitab and SAS. Course cannot be counted in the hours needed for graduate degrees in Mathematics and Statistics.
Prerequisite: Stat 145 (or other intro stats course)
Semesters offered: Fall

Lecture notes and homework

I recommend double-side printing only the upcoming chapter the day before class because future chapters are subject to edits.

ADA1_notes.pdf includes all chapters in one document, but later chapters are subject to revision.

Homework will be due 1 week (or 2 classes, whichever is shorter) after we complete each chapter.
Midterm on Chs 1-5, in class Thursday 9/29, closed notes, no calculator — only a pen or pencil. Review.
Final on Chs 7-9. Due: Thurs Dec 8 at 12:30 PM (beginning of our last day of class).

Final grade is weighted this way: 0.50(proportion correct of HW points) + 0.25(proportion correct in midterm) + 0.25(proportion correct in final)

Minitab 16 rental

6-month rental: $29.99 USD, Windows XP and after.
Meet Minitab (from version 14)
Apparently there are 100 Minitab licenses at UNM (10 in the math/stat lab, 40 on HSC on north campus, and 50 on main campus). Let me know if you find Minitab on the computers on main campus. IT doesn’t show where they are.
