Licensed

  • Valid motor vehicle operator and motorcycle licensed with a good driving record.
  • Private pilot certification single engine land (FAA part 141). Experience in Cessna R172K and Piper Cherokee planes. Over 120 hours including a New Hampshire/Florida round-trip filing flight plans, passing through Class B and C airspaces and using supplemental oxygen.

Skills

  • Programming
    R, C, Matlab, SAS (including GRAPH, IML, INSIGHT, MACRO, QC, and STAT), Stata, Minitab, S-plus, JMP, Maple, Fortran 77, Pascal, COBOL, BASIC, VAX/VMS Command files, MS-DOS Batch files and always willing to learn others. Statistical Genetics softwares include SimIBD, GeneHunter, PHYLIP, PAUP*, COAL, seq-gen, among others. Programming practices include design, functionality, peer review (when possible), and maintainability.
  • Operating Systems
    At least three years wide-scale Administration and Security Experience with Unix, VAX/VMS, Novell 3.2 and 4, MS Windows 3.11 and 95, and general experience with other various popular operating systems such as Linux, Unix, MS-DOS, MS Windows 3.1, 98, 2000, NT, and XP, Mac OSX.
  • General
    Expertise with LaTeX2e for scientific document typesetting, HTML and CSS for web publishing, Corel and MS-Office suites, unix and pc editors (such as Multi-Edit, emacs, vi, and pico), ArcView GIS for mapping, and different machine architectures and hardware including Intel machines.
  • Business
    Project management, new product design, development and implementation; effective verbal and written communication; thorough documentation and training and customer relation skills.
    Learn quickly with great attention to detail; use time and resources effectively; consider efficiency, planning and accountability vital.
    Accustomed to being in positions of responsibility; self-motivated and willing to set goals and work to achieve them; never assume “the other person” is responsible.
